NOTICE TO MARINERS. South Australia.—iV'o. 22 of 1907.—Gulf of St. Vincent. Approach to the Outer Harbor, Port Adelaide. Notice is hereby given that on or before the Isc January, 1908, there will be placed at the western end of the outer cutting a large black buoy, surmounted by a lantern cage, from which will be exhibited a green light, visible four miles- Approximate position—The lighthouse on Wonga Shoal bearing S 'I E., distant 2.1 miles, and the structure of the old lighthouse E. by N.^ N., distant one mile. The cutting is 200 ft. wide, with a depth of 33 ft. at O.L.S. Two white beacons showing white lights by night have been placed to lead through the cutting, which, when, in line, bear N. 74 E. The outer beacon is between the end- of the revetment mound and the old lighthouse, the inner one is 1,800 ft. further back. Sailing Directions. Vessels going to berth at the Outer Harbor should, when approaching the Anchorage, steer for a position about one cable west of the black buoy, so that the vessel can be pointed in the line of leads before entering the cutting. With the leads in line pass south of buoy (which' is on the northern edge of the channel). Keep the leads on until abreast of No.0 green light beacon, when No. 1 leads will be coming on, keep these in (N. 55 E.) line until abreast of No. 1 green light beacon, when No.2 red lead will be on. Then steer for a safe distance off the wharf, or for No. 3 white light beacon until abreast' of the wharf. A warping buoy has been placed on the north bank opposite the wharf for warping purposes, if required. ARTHIJE. SEARCY, President of the Marine Board.
