Since 2005, a water licence is required to access prescribed wells areas in
the Central Adelaide region. As the assessment of groundwater resources
and the quantities being extracted progresses, a Water Allocation Plan is
being prepared.
Water users that do not apply for water licences will not be permitted to take
groundwater without providing a request for consideration by the
Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources - ref. Water
