GETTING TO GRIPSWITH

AGED CARE

Navigating the aged care sector can be confusing. There

are many services to support older people to remain at

home for longer, and there are lots of services available for

after hospital and respite care, and many things to consider

before moving into residential care.

Information sessions about the various elements of aged

care will be held at Kilburn Centre during 2018.

TheseWednesday sessions are run by experts from

various areas, and are ideal for prospective consumers,

family members, community members and those simply

seeking more information.

On 28 March, the session will cover home care packages,

aged care assessment, advocacy services and active ageing.

The 2 May session discusses planning ahead with legal

services, organ donation information, and multicultural

aged care.

On 27 June, the session will cover residential aged care

and aged care complaints.

To book in to attend one or all of the sessions, please

COUNCIL GAINSWHITE RIBBON

ACCREDITATION

We have become the first Council in South Australia to

receiveWhite Ribbon accreditation, joining over120 nationally

accredited organisations that have made clear a commitment to

zero tolerance of violence against women through their public

commitment to create safer and more respectful workplaces.

White RibbonWorkplace accreditation required us to

demonstrate a whole of organisation commitment to stop

violence against women, meeting criteria under three standards.

City of PAE staff have worked hard to gain the accreditation,

which has already resulted in a new administrative policy related

to support for staff experiencing family and domestic violence,

a training program and participation in raising funds for white

ribbon charities.

Together we have taken a stand about what kind of culture we

want to create for our employees. We are seeking to improve

the overall knowledge and skills of staff to recognise and address

violence against women, and enhance Council’s reputation as a

community leader and great employer.

We are proud of this recognition and are sure it will have wider

benefit, showing we are committed to supporting respectful

relationships in the wider community.
