SAYING A BIG THANK YOU!

National Volunteer Week is the annual celebration to

acknowledge the generous contribution of our nation’s

volunteers. From 21–27 May 2018, we will say thank you to the

6 million Australians who volunteer their time.

The 2018 National Volunteer Week theme is “Give a little.

Change a lot.” This years’ theme represents the millions of

volunteers who make a profound impact in their communities

and on society, through giving a little time.

As a Council we are very proud of our Volunteer Program and

the services that it provides to the community. We have 258

registered volunteers and they are an integral part of these

services and for that we would like to say a big thank you.

Our volunteers are a very diverse group and are active in

many programs like:

• Removal of Graffiti

• Port Historical Walks & Semaphore Historical Walks

• Council Libraries

• Community Bus Service

• Supported Residential Facilities

• Home Support Vans & Medical transport

• Social support for Frail Aged and Disabled residents

• Shopping assistance for Frail Aged and Disabled residents

• Community Centres

• Flourish Team

• Community Foodies

• Visitor Information Centre

• Special Events and Arts

• Aboriginal Advisory Panel

• Youth Programs

Our volunteer program has a significant impact on our

community and volunteers provide around 3500 hours per

month. If you are interested in volunteering, give us a

call on 8405 6600.
