Actual: All planned programs have been completed on schedule with highlights
listed below:
Core Children’s programs
Pre-school sessions run weekly throughout term time (total 3,672 children
participated); Kid’s Club sessions run fortnightly at Greenacres, Enfield and
Semaphore libraries (690 children participated); Baby Bounce sessions run
fortnightly at Greenacres (term1) and Semaphore libraries (term 3) (20 babies per
session on average); School holiday programs (over 1,500 children participated)
Core Adult programs
Book Groups (300 participants), Writing Group at Semaphore Library (about 10
people per month)
Events/Programs/Information sessions Nightime storytime, Booksale event –
Greenacres and Parks, SAPOL towing, Jewellery making, Read Flash Mob – local
schools participated, Writing Competition for Youth, Photographic comp for
all – “Get Caught Reading”, Adult/Children’s book selection trip, Holocaust
Remembrance Day talk, History Month

The objectives of the
Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander Plan are implemented.
Aboriginal Community Plan implemented in accordance with plan timeframes.
Actual: Review of Aboriginal Plan undertaken and across Council actions are
being implemented satisfactorily within plan timelines.
Aboriginal traineeship provided with young person commencing August 2011.
Trainee has completed Cert.III in Community Development and has been involved
in a range of activities including Aboriginal Awards, Reconciliation Walk, working
with Aboriginal Advisory Panel and developing project to address isolation
amongst young Aboriginal mothers.
Project developed with local Kaurna women to utilise reeds from Lartelare within
weaving workshops with local Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal women aimed at
promoting higher levels of community understanding and cultural awareness.
Approximately 40 local women involved in a total of four workshops.

A wide variety of agencies utilise Council Community Centres for their activities.
Whilst data has not been specifically collected anecdotal evidence indicates there
has been a significant increase in agency utilisation of Kilburn Community Centre.
A strong emphasis is being placed on increasing agency usage in 2012/13.
