environmental protection
Actual: Representation of Council’s position regarding protection of the
natural environment is ongoing via liaison with developers and major project
proponents at the Urban Projects Coordination Group, and inter-governmental
strategic forums.
Council has been pro-active in providing input to the relevant State agencies
with regard to the impacts of future transport and industry infrastructure
development on existing business and residential precincts, and the natural
environment - via submissions to the State Infrastructure Plan, and related
processes. Council has also represented community interest via a range of State
Government Consultations directly relating to industrial management including
the Parliamentary Select Committee: Land uses on Lefevre Peninsula, and the
Environment Protection Authority Air Quality Strategy project.
Council has undertaken detailed research regarding the status of the environment
in the City, via the review of Council’s State of Environment
Report, which provides the factual basis by which to identify the issues requiring
priority advocacy and input at all levels.

Department Planning, Transport and Infrastructure, Housing SA and the City of

Council provided evidence to the Parliamentary Select Committee: Land Uses
on Lefevre Peninsula regarding interface issues and other matters including noise
and air quality associated with the Lefevre Peninsula.

Actual: Originally proposed by the Minister for Urban Planning as part of
the Residential Code introduced by the State Government in 2009/2010. The
Minister has now advised this is no longer required.
