VANDALISM.

^ Showing nuisance. Numerous complaints
are received that pla ts are pulled up in Reserves, which
IS very discouraging. Street name plates, which are a
peat convenience, have been badly treated, apparently
oy stone-throwing, as several are completely unreadable.
I find people are not willing to give evidence to
etfectively deal with this trouble. Many complaints
Were received during the last festive season of dama-e
done with tar, which was freely used by thoughtless
people, and many have expressed a wish that a repetition
will not occur again.
Tiie police have been spoken to from time to time
and are always willing to check these wanton acts of
rnischief.
WEIGHTS AND MEASURES.
As opportunity has offered, visits have been made
to warehouses,shops, etc.; 18 weighbridges,505 weights,
137 scales, and 7 measures have been tested and stamped
during the year.
In concluding, I, with others, desire to express my
very deepest sympathy with your Worship in your long
and serious illness, and join in the hope that you will be
speedily restored to health.
I have the honour to be. Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
