South Australian
Maritime Museum
Discover Australia’s oldest nautical collection
as the Maritime Museum throws open its
galleries for free. Housed in the imposing
Bond Stores, the Museum showcases life on
the waves from the early days of exploration,
to more idyllic times as Australians develop
a unique beachside culture that’s envied
around the world. The Museum features
exhibitions, interactive displays and, specially
for the Port Festival, a fascinating ‘journey’
back in time into the lives of some of the
folk who found themselves at the Port of
Adelaide.
Supported by the City of Port Adelaide

Bond Stores Inhabited
Join us for a trip to the past as a handful
of fascinating ‘hosts’ recount the stories,
people, places and gossip that coloured our
history. Hear an orphan lass re-live her long
voyage on a timber sailing ship, discover a
former curator with a unique passion and
legacy, and meet explorer Nicolas Baudin
who once charted our coasts. You might also
see a ghostly apparition or perhaps hear a
figurehead recount a tale of shipwreck.
