The City of Port Adelaide Enfield’s business is guided
by the Vision, Goals and Objectives of the City Plan.
The Council exists to provide services to its
residents, both essential services such as
infrastructure provision and waste collection, and
services to improve residents’ quality of life, such as
social support and economic development.
In order to provide high quality services to a diverse
range of residents over a large geographical
area, the City of Port Adelaide Enfield has a team
of committed staff to ensure its business runs
efficiently, and the maximum is invested directly into
services that provide real benefits to residents.
The Local Government Act 1999, in Section 8 -
Objectives of a council, sets out how a Council
must perform its role. This includes providing open,
responsive and accountable government, being
responsive to the needs, interests and aspirations
of the community, coordinating and participating
with other Government stakeholders, managing
the Council’s operations and affairs in a manner
that emphasises the importance of service to the
community, and ensuring that Council resources are
used fairly, effectively and efficiently.
The City of Port Adelaide Enfield commits its
resources to ensuring that the objectives of the
Local Government Act 1999, and a number of other
important pieces of legislation, are met to the highest
standards. In doing so, Council pays close attention
to financial sustainability, and abides by principles
of transparency and accountability in its decision
making. Council also has robust risk management
policies and procedures in place that protect the
interests of Council, staff and the community.
Having acknowledged the fast pace of change
in the community and in the Local Government
sector, Port Adelaide Enfield seeks to be a highly
responsive organisation that values the professional
and personal development of its staff. It aims to be
an innovative and dynamic organisation when facing
challenges across a broad range of issues.
