Celebrate Harmony Day
Kilburn Community Centre will host its popular annual
Harmony Day event, Growing Together In Harmony,
at the centre from 6-9pm on Friday 22 March.
Growing Together in Harmony celebrates the rich cultural
diversity of the Kilburn and Blair Athol area,
and highlights the ability of the region to grow together as
a talented and cohesive community. This year it is being
sponsored by the OPAL program, the City of
Port Adelaide Enfield and Korvest through its three divisions
EzyStrut, Korvest Galvanisers and Indax.
This year’s event will showcase performers from a variety of
cultural backgrounds. Entry is free and a healthy, delicious
and low cost multicultural dinner will be available ($4 for a
large serve, $2 for a small serve).
Bookings are not required. For more information please
contact Kilburn Community Centre on 8349 8363. The
centre is located at 59 Gladstone Avenue, Kilburn.
Get stronger and live longer
COTA Seniors Voice’s Strength for Life project is enabling
people 50 years and over to access a quality strength
training program at Enfield Community Centre and
Lefevre Community Stadium.
Strength training has been shown to improve muscular
strength, mobility and balance in people of all ages, and
can alleviate the effects of some chronic conditions such
as arthritis and Type 2 diabetes
The program, which provides affordable, supervised
strength training sessions for over 50s, costs $25 for
the initial assessment and then $6 per session, or prepay
for six sessions for $30.
People who’ve undertaken the program are enthusiastic
about the results. “The program has helped me to
strengthen my overall muscles,” said one participant. “I
have attended since the beginning and hope to be there a
lot longer. Every person over the age of 50 should sign up.”
And “congratulations on such a wonderful program for us
mature adults,” said another. “I’ve experienced improved
balance, improved confidence and I’m more positive about
life in general.”

Get to know Lefevre
Community Stadium
Lefevre Community Stadium has a wide range
of exciting programs and user groups that offer
something for everyone. The stadium features
state of the art facilities including two courts,
a function hall, meeting rooms, change room
facilities and kitchen facilities.
Roller derby at Lefevre Stadium
Lefevre Community Stadium has taken a lead
in providing the community with state of the
art skating facilities, raising roller derby to the
status of other more traditional sports. It now
has a new roller derby track marked out – one
of the first professional lined roller derby tracks
in SA. Clubs no longer have to spend hours
taping out a makeshift court.
The centre is home to the Lil Adelaide Rollers
Junior Roller Derby group, and is used by other
groups such as Light City Derby, Murder City
Rollers and Adelaide Roller Derby. The stadium
has quickly gained a reputation as a one stop
shop for roller skating programs and a number
of roller derby bouts are planned for 2013.
Indoor soccer competition
In mid 2012 the Lefevre Community Stadium
introduced a come and try Futsal (Indoor
Soccer) program for 10-14 year olds in
partnership with the Football Federation of SA
and Cristiano.
The program has been so popular that a 5-a-side
Junior Social Futsal Competition is now being
offered for 10-14 year olds.
The competition fee is $3 per player per
game (subsidised by Port Adelaide Enfield
Council) and all skill levels including beginners
are encouraged to come and give it a go.
Competition is held each Friday from 3:30pm.
Lefevre school holiday program
The Lefevre Community Stadium school holiday
program offers some great activities for parents
and their families, with low cost to free activities
including roller skating sessions, indoor soccer
clinics, netball clinics, volleyball, art and craft,
dance classes and more to come.
Keep a look out on Council’s webpage for an
updated program each school holidays.
The Parks
The Parks Community Centre has been a place
to meet, learn and play for many Port Adelaide
Enfield residents for nearly 17 years.
The Parks doors close between the 15 to 28
February 2013. We thankyou for your years of
participation and commitment to this well
loved Community Centre.
Please visit to the Council website to find out
about the programs and services that have been
transferred to other Community Centres.
