Annual Bio Bag roll-out
During April, Port Adelaide Enfield Council will deliver a
roll of compostable bags to all households for use in the
Kitchen Organics Bio Basket. The roll contains 150 Bio
Bags and is intended to last 12 months and will be placed
in your letter box or at your front door.
Your Bio Bag needs to be changed only when it is full or
every two to three days, meaning you should be using only
two or three bags each week.
It’s possible to make the roll of bags last longer by;
• Placing dry food scraps such as fruit and vegetable
peelings and paper towels directly into the green
organics wheelie bin. They do not have to be in a bag.
• Wrapping food scraps in newspaper and then placing
them in the green organics wheelie bin.
The Kitchen Organics Bio Basket has been most effective
in diverting food waste from landfill and the roll-out of
Bio Bags will occur annually.
If you have any questions about the system, please
call the Waste Line on 1800 777 844.
