Council Decision-Making Structure
Council’s principal power to make decisions is delegated
through the Local Government Act 1999. A number of other
Commonwealth and State Acts also provide Council with
the power to make decisions. Council delegates some of its
powers to the Chief Executive Officer, pursuant primarily to
Section 44 of the Local Government Act 1999.
Council and Committee Meetings
Our Elected Council meets monthly to carry out the ordinary
business of Council. Special meetings are held in accordance
with the Local Government Act 1999 where required.
To fulfil its various functions efficiently Council has established
four Committees pursuant to Section 41 of the Local
Government Act, with one of these Committees jointly
established under the Development Act 1993 and the Local
Government Act and a fifth Committee established under
the Development Act 1993. All Council, Committee and
Development Assessment Panel meetings are open to the
public.The Agenda, Reports and Minutes for each meeting are
public documents and are available at the Council Office and
libraries and on Council’s website at
