CITY OF PAE
ANNUAL REPORT
2016-2017
MESSAGE FROM THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Welcome to the City of Port Adelaide Enfield’s Annual Report
for 2016-2017.
This year has been a year of further transformation within
the organisation following our restructure last year, which has
enabled us to be in an even better position to develop and
deliver our services to approximately 123,000 members of
our community.
We have continued to work closely with our Mayor and
Elected Members to deliver the programs and facilities that
our diverse community needs today, and into the future.
In another significant year, we have undertaken some major
steps in our pursuit of creating the best possible future for
our City.
We have further strengthened our partnerships with various
State Government and business stakeholders to drive positive
economic and social changes across the region, particularly
with the revitalisation of Port Adelaide.
A number of other significant infrastructure and recreation
projects have been undertaken in the 2016-2017 financial
year, including the commencement of the Parks Library
and Community Centre. We have also completed major
road construction works for Hillcrest, Largs North and Port
Adelaide, and footpath construction for Grand Junction Road,
Rosewater and Folland Avenue, Northfield.
Over the past year we have also developed master plans
for our reserves, which include Duncan Fraser and Thomas
Turner Reserves and undertaken major road and footpath
construction works throughout the City.
Current major development masterplans and projects that
have commenced in 2016-2017 include Hanson,Taperoo,
Duncan Fraser and FJ Garrad Reserves, and Roy Marten Park,
which represents an investment of $20 million.
The Lightsview Recreation Centre and The Parks Library and
Community Centre planning was also significantly progressed
for what we believe will become future focal hubs for
community coming together.
Our ongoing focus on the health and wellbeing of our
community continues through our support of community
programs such as Our Good Life and Flourish to cater for the
different ages, cultural backgrounds, socio economic situations
and health needs of our diverse community.
We continue to drive economic development in not only Port
Adelaide Enfield but in our wider region. Over the past 12
months we have developed theWestern Adelaide Regional
Tourism Strategy with our neighbouring councils and have
been an active participant in the Northern Economic Plan.
We have started implementing our City Plan 2030, which is
our blueprint for achieving our vision of embracing change
through innovation, resilience and community leadership. This
bold plan has five key goals and an integrated approach that
is closely aligned to our administration objectives and how we
engage with our community and other key stakeholders to
develop major projects.
To this end we have initiated a number of strategies and
started implementing action plans for Economic Development,
Marketing and Communications,Tourism, Living Environment
andWaste Management that will enable the
successful delivery of our services both
now and in the future.
We continue to change and
grow as both a Council
and region, and I am
committed to ensuring
that we strengthen
our partnerships
with various levels of
Government, industry
and the community
to ensure future
prosperity for our
whole community.
