(Westphalen et al 2005). Adjacent to Semaphore, seagrass loss between 1970
and 1983 occurred closer to the shore correlating to areas of coastal
development and stormwater discharge. In 1993-1996 seagrass loss moved
further offshore where the Port Adelaide Sludge outfall point was located (EPA,
1998).
Recently the rate of decline has decreased because the sewage sludge outfalls
at Port Adelaide and Glenelg have been decommissioned and some
improvements have been made in catchment management - but seagrass loss
still continues.

loss of seagrasses from 1949 to 1996, and the stormwater outfalls between
Largs Bay and Marino.
