Issues and opportunities
Council advocates for the finalisation of the State Government’s revised
sea level rise policy regarding coastal development, so as to have
planning policy that reflects the most current scientific research and
modelling regarding predicted sea level rise.
Council to advocate to the State Government to develop Management
Plans for the Barker Inlet/St Kilda Aquatic Reserve, the Torrens Island
Conservation Reserve, Port Gawler Conservation Park and St
Kilda/Chapman Creek Aquatic Reserve in liaison with DENR, AMLR NRM
Board and Salisbury Council.
Council continues to implement its allocated actions under the Port
Waterways Water Quality Improvement Program (PWWQIP), Council
Stormwater Management Plans, and various WSUD State Government
requirements.
Council to support PIRSA's program for management of
Caulerpa taxifolia
.
Council to advocate to the State Government to commence investigations
on the impacts of thermal discharge on fauna and flora of the Port
Adelaide River.
An action in the Western Adelaide Region Climate Change Adaptation
Plan (WARCCAP) to include the undertaking of a vulnerability assessment
of the current coastline under the increased pressure from sea level rise.
