ParksWard is culturally diverse and full
of wonderful eateries, businesses, parks
and reserves.The Gepps Cross Treasure
Market evokes great memories for me as
I used to go there often when I was a kid.
The market is still going strong and is one
of the largest outdoor markets in our city.
The recently opened Parks Library with its
latest technology and open space is another
attraction in ParksWard. Its completion was
a fantastic achievement by our Council. I
enjoy making visits there with my children,
borrowing books for them and watching
them play in the nearby playground.
There are many wonderful open spaces
in the ParksWard, and each helps reflect
the history of the area and diversity of
our community. Richard Day Reserve on
York Terrace reflects our colonial past.Tao
Dan on Sutherland Road has elements that
recognise the strongVietnamese community.
I have been advocating for the care of our
parks for the fifty years I have lived here.
The variety and accessibility of the open
spaces here in an urban area is one of the
best things about life in the Parks.
I’ve always been a keen reader and student,
so when I moved to the ParksWard six
years ago it felt something was missing.
Now with the new Parks Library (opened
October 2018), the community is really
coming together. I now visit the library at
least 2-3 times a week where I can study,
read, or borrow from the toy library – my
toddler loves the puzzles! Every time I
visit there seems to be something different
and interesting happening especially the
innovation on display in the MakerSpace. My
favourite part is how well used this library
is, and how many regulars I see.
