ROY MARTEN DOG PARK OPEN

FOR BUSINESS

The Roy Marten Dog Park at Taperoo is open for business and

from feedback received so far, it appears our attendees have

been having a howlin’ good time!

The park is part of a $6.6 million five-stage project, which

is projected to be completed by 2020/21. It will include

landscaping of surrounding land, netball courts, recreational and

fitness facilities.

The park was designed in consultation with a specialist to

achieve the safest and most user-friendly lay-out.

It’s great to see so many people (and pooches) enjoying

the facility and now that the sun is finally out, it’s a great

opportunity for a reminder of dog park rules and etiquette;

• Dogs need to be under effective control by voice

command, in close proximity of the owner and in sight of

the owner at all times

• Dogs must be registered, vaccinated and be wearing a

current registration disc

• Please closely supervise children whilst in the dog park

• If your dog is in season or is ill, please don’t use the dog

park for the safety of other dogs

• Ensure the gate is closed securely

• Use the poo bag dispensers and clean up after your dog

• Please report any dog attacks or concerning incidents to

Council by calling 8405 6600

If you have any feedback regarding the park please contact us

on 8405 6600.

GHOSTS OF THE PORT

Established in 1836 as the state’s primary maritime centre,

there are many thousands of fascinating and often tragic stories

about the people who have lived, worked and died in the Port

Adelaide area. These stories contribute to the rich fabric of our

community and a selection are shared within this resource in

a way that is designed to evoke the history and mystery of the

Port.

This year, for Halloween, the Council commissioned the

development of a self-guided walking tour ‘Ghosts of the Port’,

researched and written by Allen Tiller.

Mr Tiller is the star of Syfy’s hit TV show, Haunting:Australia.

The guide includes a detailed history of 13 different historic

locations across the Port, including the Civic precinct, local pubs,

Lipson Street, the Lighthouse and more.

Allen has also created three short videos on key locations

around the Port. You can watch the videos on our Facebook

page

www.facebook.com/cityofpae.

Download a copy of the guide book from Council’s website or

head along to the Visitor Information Centre during opening

hours (9am-5pm, 7 days except Christmas Day) to pick

up a copy.
