The need to identify and manage the increased risk of noise impacts in
residential areas, due to both increased residential densities, and
increased commercial and transport activities in some parts of the City.
Heritage
The region’s heritage is an important component in supporting community
identity and wellbeing. It maintains links to, and improves understanding of, our
local history and provides economic, tourism and employment opportunities.
The Heritage chapter discusses the following environmental priorities:
The need to manage development along the coast, Port Adelaide River
and Lefevre Peninsula which may pose a significant threat to the natural
and historic heritage of the City by disturbing archaeological sites, Kaurna
sites of significance, or eroding coastal dune sites of historic interest
Careful planning and consultation is vital to conserve Aboriginal heritage
which is central to the recognition and maintenance of Aboriginal culture.
