Indicators
Each chapter provides an overview of the current state of the environment by
reporting on key indicators. Two categories of environmental indicators are
reported on:-
•
Condition Indicators – provide a measure of the state or condition of
elements of the environment;
•
Pressure Indicators – provide a measure of the pressures or impacts which
are affecting the condition of the environment.
Environmental indicators show trends over time, and allow assessment of the
effectiveness of efforts to deal with environmental pressures or meet targets.
