Introduction
State of Environment Reporting
The State of Environment Report 2012 presents information about the City’s
natural and physical environment. It identifies changing trends over time, issues
and pressures affecting the environment and outlines priorities for consideration
in planning and management.
This information will be used by the City of Port Adelaide Enfield to inform the
review of Council plans, strategies, policies and programs.
The State of Environment Report 2012 is a key resource for environmental
management, providing:-
•
accurate, timely and accessible information about environmental
conditions to decision makers, other organisations, and the community;
•
a resource for use by the public to increase understanding and awareness
of current environmental issues;
•
early diagnostic summary of environmental problems;
•
an evaluation of the effectiveness of existing environmental policies and
programs in achieving environmental outcomes;
•
an identification of gaps in knowledge of environmental conditions and
trends;
•
an information base to support advocacy for the protection and
enhancement of natural areas;
•
a tool to inform ecologically sustainable urban planning and development;
•
the basis for the allocation of strategic resources by relevant agencies and
the community.
