Of waste quantities shown in the above table, an average of 43.84% are diverted from landfill and recycled. Green waste
diversion was stable from 2003/04 to 2005/06 and dropped slightly in 2007/08. The diversion of Green Waste trend then
increased again at an annual average of 1.3% until 2010/11. There is an annual increase of diversion of recyclable waste
from landfill of about 1.3%, with a total increased tonnage of 8,664 from 2003/04 until 2010/11.
A decrease in the tonnage of waste sent to landfill and increase in the tonnage recycled has been recorded over an eight
year period between 2003/04 and 2010/11. In 2003/04 a total 24,376 tonnes was collected (compared with 22,080 in
2010/11), and 4,853 tonnes (11%) was diverted from landfill (compared with 10,945 (21%) in 2010/11).
