Transport - State & Pressures
Condition indicator:
Mode of transport to work
The ‘mode of transport’ indicator shows the trends in commuting vehicle
usage, public transport patronage and cycling within the City. Increasing use
of cars indicates the level of community dependency on vehicles for transport
rather than other commuting methods such as public transport or cycling. The
increase in the number of cars on the road results in significant increases in
air pollution and health impacts associated with vehicle traffic, as well as
being a significant source of greenhouse gas emissions.
