Council's Corporate Water Consumption
The various water management actions that Council has undertaken over the
last seven years , including improved irrigation efficiency and mulching areas
of non-passive use, has contributed to the decrease in water use for parks &
gardens as shown in the below figure.
Figure 10 shows the downward trend in Council water consumption for
Council's parks and gardens. Overall water costs have increased due to the
56% increase in water charges per KL since 2004/05. By reducing water
consumption, Council has avoided approximately 14% or $1,185,795 increase
in water costs since 2004/05. These savings can be transferred to other vital
Council programs and services.

Corporate Utilities Project
Council is reducing energy use and improving water efficiency in Council
operated facilities. As part of a coordinated program Council aims to commit
$100,000 - 150,000 per annum. The program has been in operation for six
years. The purpose of the program is to implement cost effective on-ground
actions that directly reduce building energy consumption.
Council's Corporate Utilities Project (CUP) addresses the energy use of
buildings and implements improvements to increase water and energy
efficiency. Project initiatives that have saved greater than 10 tonnes of CO
