Green Power
From 2007 to 2010 Council committed to the purchase of 20% accredited
"Green Power" for all utility sites to assist in reducing greenhouse gas
emissions and to provide leadership to the community. South Australian
Accredited "Green Power" is generated by renewable energy sources such as
wind, solar, water or biomass.
The contribution by Council in this way provided additional impetus for the
State Government and retailers to invest in renewable energy initiatives in the
State. It is also desirable to contribute to greenhouse gas abatement projects
within the Council area by investing directly in Council renewable energy
projects on an annual basis.
