The above projects are some of the many initiatives since 2005 that Council's
Corporate Utilities Project has contributed to, and as a result has made some
significant savings:-
Over 350 tonnes of Corporate Greenhouse gas reduction has been
achieved since 2005 (equivalent of taking 51,470 cars off the road, or
removing 13 average size houses from the electricity grid per year
The cost saving to Council (and ratepayers) between 2005/06 and
2009/10 from reduced power consumption alone is approximately
$13,500 per year
Other initiatives implemented via the Energy and Water Efficiency
Management Plan includes:
Development of the Port Adelaide Library Photovoltaic awareness
project.
Promotion of Council's environment sustainability initiatives via Eco
Events
Council’s Work Green website
Incorporation of Planet Footprint’s energy and greenhouse gas emission
score keeping system
Purchase of more fuel efficient vehicles for Council fleet
Implementation of the Council's Turf Irrigation Management Plan.
Commissioning of pump station energy efficiency research report
The Community Water Sensitive Urban Design Bio-retention
Demonstration Project in Mansfield Park
Developing a sustainability awareness training program for staff
