Ward Councillors
Port Adelaide Enfield Council
comprises a Mayor and 17 Councillors,
distributed around seven wards that
take in the whole of the City. These
are your representatives, your voice in
Council on matters that concern you
in your area, and they are the people
who make the policy decisions that
guide the Council’s administration in its
daily work. If you have any concerns
that should be brought to the attention
of Council, please contact one of the
Elected Members in your ward.

If you would like a corrected version for
display, you can reprint the document

website
Council apologises for any inconvenience

Local Government Elections 2014
Emergency Management Magnets
Towards the end of October residents will
receive voting papers for the forthcoming
local government elections, which
conclude on 7 November. With a total
of 17 Councillors and a Mayor due to be
elected, the City of Port Adelaide Enfield
has had a record number of 52 candidates
nominate. This will require an election for
the Mayor and all seven wards.
Unlike State elections, voting in local
government elections is not compulsory,
but like all who are involved in local
government I believe it’s very important
that you do vote.
Local government elections matter because
Councils are the tier of government closest
to the community, and undoubtedly the
area of government that has the most day
to day impact on our lives.
Council provides a range of services
that contribute a great deal to our
communities. Our libraries and
community centres offer diverse programs,
and our HACC and community transport
services continue to be well utilised.
Our planning and building departments
are there to assist when you have a new
home or development in mind while our
health officers and inspectors work to help
ensure community safety. Council also
contributes to the funding and delivery of
a number of community events each year
so we can celebrate together.
I am grateful to the residents and
ratepayers who take the time to contact
us if there is a location in our City that
requires attention. An article on page 12
highlights how to request services. Beyond
the day to day services, local government
is increasingly being asked to play an even
greater role in how communities operate.
Now is the time for our residents and
business and property owners to consider
what services they require and how our
city should look
in the future.
