Use the right bin and win
Each week in June and July a randomly selected residential
property had its bins inspected looking for correct food waste
disposal during the ‘Use the Right Bin and Win’ competition
to encourage food waste recycling in the green organics bin.
On 3 July 2014 a random bin inspection at a Largs North
property identified food waste in a compostable bag in the
green bin. The winner, Natalie, received $500 worth of
Bunnings Warehouse gift cards and reported the prize could
not have had more perfect timing as it would help her buy
plants for the front garden. The next phase of the competition,
run by Council in collaboration with KESAB
Environmental
Solutions
, is in development and will start in the near future -
so remember, “Use the Right Bin and Win.’ For updates,
full competition details and terms and conditions, please
visit Council’s website.
A Day on the Grove
This popular annual spring fete is happening from 10am-2pm
on Saturday 18 October, at the Ridley Grove Community
Garden. Enjoy workshops and demonstrations, live music,
food, haberdashery and craft stalls and purchase some of
the delightful produce, plants and seeds for sale. The event
will also celebrate the completion of a new art installation
at the garden, the “Message Post” project and is a chance
to celebrate the launch of the collaborative efforts of the
Church, Op-shop and garden, now to be collectively known
as the “Grove Meeting Place” at 66 Ridley Grove, Woodville
Gardens. Contact 0413 847 021 for more details.
