New ‘island’ Semaphore
play space now open
The new Semaphore Foreshore Play Space designed
By Aspect Studios is now open to the public.
Come and experience the play items at the new and
improved Semaphore Play Space titled ‘The Island’.
The design of the play space area takes the user onto an
island allowing them to experience the large volcano
net and be challenged climbing the wall of the cove
surrounded by palm trees.
‘The Island’ play space also offers a variety of other
equipment including a flying fox, several swings,
climbing equipment and turf climbing mounds.
There is plenty of shade and seating areas available
within the park making it an ideal location to visit
with the family.
Recycle your old mobile
Over 90% of materials in mobile phones are recyclable
and MobileMuster ensures valuable resources are
recycled and do not end up in landfill. In addition, some
mobile phones contain hazardous materials that can
harm the environment when not disposed of correctly.
Recycling mobile phones ensures hazardous materials are
properly managed, which is why Council provides free
recycling for mobile phone, mobile phone batteries
and accessories recycling at several Council sites
including our libraries and Civic Centre as part of the
MobileMuster program.
In the 2013-14 financial year, these collection points
returned a total of 24kg of mobile phones, batteries and
accessories and we’d like to increase this in the 2014-15
financial year. However, we need your help so please
remember to recycle your old mobile phones, batteries
and accessories in the mobile phone collection tubes at
the centres listed above.
