SALA FESTIVAL

The City of Port Adelaide Enfield is proud to support

this year’s annual South Australian Living Artists (SALA)

Festival - a state-wide festival of visual art from 1-31

August.The SALA Festival was established in 1998

to promote and celebrate the many talented visual

artists in South Australia.This year there are over 50

SALA exhibitions and events within the City of Port

Adelaide Enfield.

Exhibitions will be held right across our City from

Largs Bay to Port Adelaide to Northfield to Klemzig.

The exhibitions will feature in galleries, cafes, pubs,

libraries, community centres - even the old Packing

Shed at Hart’s Mill.

There will be a guided tour of a number of exhibitions

from 1.30pm to 3.30pm on Sunday 21 August, leaving

from the Port Adelaide Visitor Information Centre.

Please call 8504 6560 (open 7 days a week, 9am-5pm)

to book your place, as numbers will be limited.

There will also be special opening celebrations,

workshops and open studios.

Grab yourself a local SALA Guide from the Port

Adelaide Visitor Information Centre, Civic Centre, or

one of Council’s Libraries or Community Centres. It

will also be available at

HERITAGE PUB TRAIL

Looking for something fun to do this winter in

Port Adelaide? Why not go on a self-guided heritage

pub trail.The Port Adelaide Visitor Information Centre

offers the Port Adelaide Heritage Pub Trail brochure

which has historical, folklore and current information

about 10 of its heritage hotels.

Did you know that some of the pubs have

resident ghosts? Visit the Port Dock Brewery Hotel

which is supposedly haunted by a lady dressed in white,

as well as some smugglers! Find out more when you go

on the trail!

This brochure is a handy ‘eating out’ guide to the Port

Adelaide Heritage Pubs when looking for a hearty meal

to share with family and friends.

CASUAL HIRE

Lefevre Community Stadium is available for casual

hire during the day time for families, individuals and

groups that want to pop in for a casual shoot around,

badminton game, roller skating or maybe a pick up

soccer game? We have a wide range of activities to

choose from $5.50 per person.

RESIDENTS BUS TOUR

The Kilburn Community Centre is running bus tours

of the local area for people who have recently moved

in to the area. Using one of the community buses, the

tour will show new residents the local services, shops,

schools, play grounds, sport clubs and places of interest

and note. If you have any suggestions for us to add to

ARTS ORGANISATION

NEW TENANTS FOR

OLD POST OFFICE

After a highly competitive selection process, the City of

Port Adelaide Enfield, in conjunction with Renew Adelaide

were excited to announce arts organisation Fontanelle has

been chosen to fill the tenancy in the old Post Office on

St Vincent Street.

Fontanelle is an existing gallery and art space in Bowden – run

by co-directors Brigid Noone and Ben Leslie, who actively plan,

develop and manage enormously popular studios, exhibitions

and workshops.

The Post Office project will build on this model and it

will be known as ‘Fontanelle at Port Adelaide’.

Co-director Brigid Noone said:“Along with exhibitions, the

gallery will be open to the public four days a

week.We

will

also facilitate cultural and social gatherings including food

pop-up events, music and performance.”

Part of the space will also be allocated to permanent

studios for local artists.
