CHINESE TV FILMED LOCALLY
In April, a Chinese film crew from the show 'Speed' hit the
streets of Port Adelaide's historic precinct to film stunts
coordinated by legendary action producer Bruce Law
(Transformers: Age of Extinction, Mission Impossible 3, Supercop)
and local production company, 57 Films.
In addition to the 120 cast and crew who came to Australia,
the show employed 50 local crew and cast.The local production
of Speed will help to further strengthen our relationship
with China.
Fifteen episodes of the 32 part series were shot in South
Australia over three weeks, with much of the action taking place
in the City of PAE. Council worked to ensure that the shoot
happened without a hitch.
It was exciting to have the crew here and to get to see behind
the scenes of an action shoot and we look forward to seeing
our streets on show to millions of international viewers!
PLACEMAKING PILOT
Placemaking is about making our city a great place to live, work
and play. It’s about the planning, design and management of
public spaces to capitalise on our local community’s sense of
who they are and creating places that promote people’s health,
happiness and wellbeing.
The concept of placemaking is relatively new, but is something
that forms a key part of our City Plan 2030. Our new
Placemaking,Activation and Engagement team has been working
hard on getting started on a range of small projects across all
Council wards to trial and learn from the concept
of placemaking.
One of these projects is the Parks Library public art project.
In order to turn this from a standard public art commissioning
exercise to a place making one, the process will have a strong
emphasis on engagement and interaction between the potential
artists and the communities that have an interest in the new
Parks Library.This will ensure that the art that ultimately goes
into the site reflects the community, its needs and interests and
the ways it will interact with the site.
