ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT

For more than ten years the residents of the Taperoo and North

Haven areas were without a local full time dentist. This changed

with the opening of Ocean View Dental in the heart of Lefevre

Peninsula in November 2015 by Dr Anna Kanter.

Dr Kanter graduated from Adelaide University in 2008 and was

awarded theWilson Prize for Ethical Conduct, recognising her

commitment to professionalism through her practice.Anna knew

she wanted to establish a practice where she could treat patients

in a comfortable and professional environment and wanted her

practice to be not only clinically exceptional, but to also be a

leading green dental clinic in the community.

Anna has demonstrated both a high degree of customer service

and entrepreneurial spirit which was recognised in 2017 when

she was awarded the inaugural NorthWest Business Alliance

Entrepreneur of the Year Award. At the time of accepting the

award Anna stated “We would like to extend a huge thank you

to all of our wonderful patients for making it possible for us to

receive the 2017 Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the North

West Business Awards. We are very grateful for the community

that has developed at Ocean View Dental. Without the kind

words or referral to friends and family of our patients and your

continued support Ocean View Dental would not be the practice

it is today”.

The 2018 NorthWest Business Alliance Awards, proudly

supported by Port Adelaide Rotary, Peter Kittle Holden and the

City of Port Adelaide Enfield, will be launched onWednesday 6

June at the Port Adelaide Football Club.To register for this free

Ocean View Dental is also a big supporter of the local

community as sponsor of North Haven Football Club’s Best and

Fairest award and also a recent supporter of the Port Adelaide

Football Club.

Dr Anna Kanter, owner of Ocean View Dental, is passionate

about supporting a healthy and connected local community and

this is one of the reasons why she will be enrolling on City of

PAE's supplementary roll to vote in the November 2018

Council Elections.

HAVE A BUSINESS? HAVE A SAY

Did you know that voting in Council elections is open to a

broader range of people than State and Federal elections? An

important difference is that businesses and body corporates can

vote in Council elections.

Even if you are not an Australian citizen, and not on the State

(House of Assembly) electoral roll you can vote in a Council

election, as long as you are above 18 years of age and have

lived in the Council area for more than one month. You can

also vote in a Council election if you own a rateable property

in the area, regardless of whether you live in it.You will just

need to fill in an application form to be included on

City of PAE's supplementary roll.

Because Anna operates a business in Taperoo but resides

outside the Council region, upon application, she’s eligible to

cast her vote for local members for the Outer Harbor ward,

and is also eligible for a mayoral vote. You must enrol to vote

by Friday 10 August and enrolment forms are available on

our website. Council staff can assist you, like they have Anna,

to determine your eligibility taking into account your own

unique circumstances. So if you are unsure about your voting

entitlements please feel free to contact us.

MAJOR SHIPYARD CONSTRUCTION

Recently you may have heard some noise on the peninsula.

This is due to construction of major infrastructure at the

Osborne Naval Shipbuilding Precinct.

These facilities will deliver new warships and submarines for

the Navy. Once in full production, it is expected that over 5,000

South Australians will be employed in the shipyards.

The Osborne Naval Shipbuilding Precinct is the nation’s premier

naval industry hub located within the former Techport Precinct

at Osborne. Late last year, Lendlease was announced as the

managing contractor in partnership with Australian Naval

Infrastructure, to deliver a new shipyard and upgrade of existing

facilities at the precinct.

As a result of these scheduled works, you may experience some

low levels of noise and vibration as the piling work begins at the

site.Work is scheduled Monday through Saturday each week and

expected to continue until late this year. Please be assured that

Lendlease staff are working hard to minimise the construction

impacts on residents and businesses and the project has been

carefully planned to follow all relevant construction requirements

and restrictions.

If you have any questions or need any more information, please

contact Lendlease on 8221 6332
