START THEWEEK RIGHT
AT ENFIELD
Mondays are one of the busiest days of the week at the
bustling Enfield Community Centre, with a packed program of
opportunities offered year round to help you start your
week right.
The Imagination Playground, for children aged two to five years is
a free activity that encourages creative play in a safe environment.
Children benefit from physical play on the huge blue foam
blocks, which improves gross motor skills and encourages social
interactions such as learning to take turns and share. Parents and
carers can also benefit from connecting with other local parents.
These sessions run from 10.30-11.30am and bookings are not
required- just come along!
Then, there’s the Creative Mondays Art and Craft Group who
work across a variety of mediums including painting, drawing,
knitting and beading. There is a real willingness to share skills
amongst group members.Artist Anna-Maria says “I enjoy coming
and helping people to draw and paint, it’s what I love doing.”
Bring your willingness to learn or share with others and drop in
to meet the group anytime on a Monday between 10.30am-2pm.
The cost to attend is $3.
Or, if you’d prefer to try something physical, the new Tai Chi
classes may be of interest. These gentle exercise classes are just
$7, and run from 10.30 - 11.30am.
No visit to Enfield on a Monday would be complete without
a refreshment break at the PopUp Café. Here you will find
bottomless coffee for a gold coin donation, affordable snacks or
a hot meal from 11.30am onwards for just $3.50.The cosy café
environment is the perfect spot to read, knit or catch up
with friends.
Contact Liz Haar on 8405 6556 to have a chat about how you
can get involved.

MICROCHIPPING SUCCESS
The Community Safety Team in conjunction with the Animal
Welfare League hosted a microchipping day in July, where over
340 dogs and cats received their microchip at a reduced rate.
Animals were assessed for their anxiety, stress and aggression, to
decide the best location for the microchipping to occur on
their body.
The comfort of the animals was top of mind with owners given
the choice of being inside, on the grass outside or even in their
own motor vehicle.
Microchip details have been entered into the new Dogs and Cats
Online system, which is now used to record dog and cat details,
and be a central resource of registrations, microchip and breeder
information, and payment of registration fees.
While all data should now be on the new site, if you move house,
or get a new pet, you can use the site to keep your information
up to date.
Dogs and cats are regarded as valuable family members, providing
companionship and affection and give us a sense of connection
to the community. But owning a pet is also a responsibility, so
microchipping is the most effective way to permanently identify
your pet, and enable us to reunite you with your pet should they
become lost.
In 2017/18 we delivered
over 52,000 rolls of bio bags
