to the fourth Port Festival
as the City of Port
Adelaide Enfield again
sets the pace as the most
progressive, go-ahead
region in South Australia.
The Port Festival has brought
many visitors to Port Adelaide
and been a stimulus for
a huge range of artistic
endeavour and good old
fashioned entertainment.
We’ve always had a strong
sense of our own culture
and identity, and that’s
what this festival helps
to celebrate. It is a true
people’s festival and all
about a community uniting
around a common passion
for the arts and culture of the
Port. Its sense of excitement
and family involvement
succeeds in involving
many local residents as
well as attracting many
new people to the Port.
With major work now under
way on the regeneration
of the Port, this exciting
program will contribute
by increasing awareness
of Port Adelaide as a
destination, supporting
its ever growing arts base
and providing a true sense
of pride for all residents.
I congratulate the Festival
and Council staff, who’ve
brought it all together,
and thank the artistic and
business communities and
the people of Port Adelaide
Enfield for their continuing
and future support.
