South Australian
Maritime Museum
Our state has a rich history and the South
Australian Maritime Museum brings it to life.
The Museum features interactive exhibitions
and rare collections, and, specially for the
Port Festival, a fantastic journey back in time
into the lives of some of the folk who found
themselves in the Port of Adelaide.

Haunted
Performers will awaken spirits from the Port’s
past, and a community of colourful characters,
not quite convinced they are dead, will haunt
the Museum’s galleries. Meet whalers and
explorers. Hear orphans recount their long
voyages on leaky migrant ships, and share
gossip with a ketch hand or a gruff wharfie.

Windjammers:
The Last Grain Races
It was one of the last chapters in the age of
sail. Tall ships creaking with grain left South
Australian Ports to round Cape Horn for Europe.
Photojournalists captured crews at work and at
play, from as late as 1949. They left us a stunning
collection of photographs, offering a window
into the ancient traditions of sail.
