Floorball is a type of indoor hockey, played by two teams of
five field players and a goalkeeper, which has been played
at Lefevre Community Stadium since early last year.
The aim of the game is to score goals by handling and
striking the light hollow plastic ball with carbon graphite
sticks. Developed in Sweden in the 1970s, floorball is most
popular in Europe, although it is gaining popularity around
the world with many thousands of registered floorball
players. The Australia national team recently won the Asia
Pacific Floorball tournament and has qualified for the world
championships in December this year.
In Adelaide, floorball is played every Thursday between
4.30 and 6pm at Lefevre Community Stadium. New players,
male and female, old and young, are welcome to try out
and enjoy the health, fitness and social benefits of this
exciting, fast paced, fun and safe team sport.
Sessions are led by Sam Teoh, who played in the national
team of Malaysia. Sticks are provided, just bring sports attire.
