CONNECTINGWITH OUR
LOCAL LEADERS
With our City being steeped in Aboriginal culture, our new
Kaurna Register can assist you to find a local cultural advisor
within the City of PAE. Here you'll find information about
organising aWelcome to Country or Acknowledgement to
Country, with example videos of both being performed.
Welcome to Country has been part of Aboriginal culture for
thousands of years, and involves Aboriginal or Torres Strait
Islander custodians or a local Elder welcoming people to their
land through speech, song, dance or ceremony.
Aboriginal people have clearly defined territories and boundaries
that are still observed today. When entering another group’s
country, traditional protocols required visitors to seek permission
to enter, and once granted allows safe passage through the
country whilst maintaining the cultural protocols of that land.
An Acknowledgement of Country can be done by anyone,
Aboriginal and/or non-Aboriginal, to pay respect to the fact
that one is on Aboriginal land. It recognises the place of
Aboriginal people as the first custodians of this land and
promotes awareness of their history and culture while formally
acknowledging their ongoing connection to the land.

Technology is shaping the future of our libraries and they are also
fast becoming a place to learn and understand new technologies.

technology expo at Parks Library on Saturday 3 November, from
10am-3pm.
Community groups, associations and local businesses will feature
at this free, all-age event. Get hands on with new and emerging
technologies, enjoy a range of activities plus there’ll be a chance
to speak with those who surround themselves with gizmos and
gadgets on a daily basis.
We’ll also be showcasing some of the innovative technology
currently used across the City of PAE branches, including Virtual
Reality, 3D printers, robotics and the Parks’ new Makerspace
