NORTHFIELDWARD
Cr Matt Osborn
Northgate Reserve is one of the many stunning
parks enjoyed by the residents of Northfield
Ward. My wife and I love leisurely walks around
the lakes where families walk their dogs and
kids zip by on their bikes or have fun on the
playground.The native shrubs and grasses
provide a home for the ducks, and also frame
a picturesque environment. I’m proud that our
Council is investing in inclusive places where
our community comes together, like the first-
class sports and community centre that we will
be building in Lightsview, public toilets in Roy
Amer Reserve, and the upgrades we are planning
for Duncan Fraser, FJ Garrad, and Thomas
Turner Reserves. Our community is growing,
and I will keep working hard to deliver the local
infrastructure and investment that we deserve.

Over the years I've had many favourite
places in NorthfieldWard! Currently my
favourite is the Valley View Golf Course
and Driving Range. I do not have an official
handicap and at this Par 3 you do not need
one to enjoy a round of golf. It's convenient
to have the driving range next door where
you can have fun hitting a bucket of balls to
practice your swing, which is where I began
when I first started playing golf in my 20s. My
family have enjoyed playing this course for
many years, introducing my daughter to golf
at a young age. Give golf a go! Currently we
are undertaking a review of our three golf
courses: Glanville,Valley View
and Regency Park.

When asked for my favourite place in
NorthfieldWard I thought of the many places
I regularly visit where I have had significant
input into its design, upgrade or other special
meaning for me.These include the Roy Amer
Reserve at Oakden, Greenacres Reserve,
Duncan Fraser Reserve - where I coach footy,
Edward Smith Reserve - my old home ground,
Hillcrest Community Centre,Thomas Turner
Reserve or my favourite coffee spot - Urban
Lights Cafe in Lightsview. I chose LJ Lewis
Reserve Dog Park as I spent years working for
Council to have dog parks and this was the first
one constructed in our Council; and our family
loves to take Patch here for a run.
