THE CRUISE SHIP SEASON

The 2017-2018 cruise season runs from October 2017 to

March 2018 when a total of 68 cruise ships will visit South

Australia, up from 52 visits in 2016-2017. With 37 cruise liner

City's popularity as a cruise destination continues to grow.

This season will see the mega cruise liner,

Ovation of the Seas,

the world’s third largest cruise ship call twice into Adelaide.

There will be a welcome return of the

Queen Mary II

in

February, and the Norwegian Jewel,

Noordam, Ocean Dream,

Azamara Journey, Regatta

and the

L’Austral

will make their

inaugural visits to South Australia and Outer Harbor

during this season.

If you are interested in cruise ships and would like to catch

a glimpse of these floating palaces as they sail through South

Australian waters, the best vantage points are Semaphore or

Lady Ruthven Reserve at Outer Harbor.

CYCLING TO SUCCESS

WITH PELOTON AT THE PORT

After 19 years, the Santos Tour Down Under is returning to Port

Adelaide, so we’re polishing our bikes and laundering our lycra

ready for this year’s race as it kicks off with Peloton at the Port.

The City of PAE is hosting stage 1 of this premier cycling race,

and riders will set off from Commercial Road at Port Adelaide

and travel to Lyndoch on Tuesday 16 January.

Celebrating 20 years of race history, and with an estimated

crowd of 8,000 enjoying coffees and light breakfasts, the Port

River will be a riot of colour as boats of all shapes and sizes

create a colourful flotilla to compliment the Peloton as it surges

over the Birkenhead Bridge.

So come along early and celebrate this historic day, get a selfie

under the start bridge, rub shoulders with cycling fans, be part

of the atmosphere, and linger longer, as it’s going to be an

awesome morning!

Keep an eye on our social media for more exciting

announcements in the lead up to the event, or visit www.

Tour Down Under.

local workshops to create 200 large banners to line the streets

of Commercial Road North,Vincent Street and the Birkenhead

Bridge for the 2018 Santos Tour Down Under.

These two local artists were selected to manage the Tour

Down Under Placemaking Activation Project. The theme of Port

River Life, was chosen to represent the unique character and

geography of the area and to celebrate and highlight the life of

the river.

Over 150 adults and children attended twelve workshops to

design and make a selection of bright, colourful banners that will

add even more vibrancy to what promises to be a memorable

day at Peloton at the Port.
