underway, with local Largs Bay business BluBuilt Constructions

part of the redevelopment of the old Taperoo Primary School
site and will include a multi-use area, a bar and a
commercial kitchen.
A local success story, BluBuilt was established in South
Australia in 2010 and now employs 25 full time staff as well as a
number of local contractors. General Manager Owen Richards
is confidant about future growth in the City of PAE, which
reinforced their decision to base the business here.
“We identified the huge potential around the Port Adelaide
area, taking into account the future planning objectives for
redevelopment and immediate access to the main
transport corridor.”
Owen said, "Our commitment to this area is part of our focus
to grow our profile of work based on innovation and finding
new ways to deliver solutions which fit the vision and brief of
our client.”
The Taperoo Reserve project is part of Council’s commitment
to provide more sporting facilities on the Lefevre Peninsula. It
is being delivered in multiple stages and includes three soccer
pitches, clubroom facility, car parking and a community park.
The building was designed by Studio Nine Architects with sub
consultants MLEI Consulting Engineers, BESTEC and Trento
Fuller Pty Ltd.
The construction project was awarded to BluBuilt in July after
being chosen from 11 competitive tender submissions. This
will be the first job they have undertaken for the City of PAE
and they were chosen due to the strength of their work in
constructing sporting facilities in South Australia.

PACKING A PUNCH
FOR THE FOOD INDUSTRY
When the car manufacturing industry was reacting to the
downturn in 2012, Joe Matto, General Manager of Quality Plastics
and Tooling, saw it as an opportunity to head the business in a
new direction.
Using his engineering skills and expertise gained from over 21
years in the tooling and plastic injection-moulding business,
PakPot packaging was created, a company specialising in the
production of high quality In-Mould Labelled (IML) containers for
the food industry.
Growth and demand from the food industry for individually
designed unique IML packaging giving brand owners point of
difference on the shelves, and this has meant that Joe and his team
have created new products with in-molded labels that are also
reusable and 100% recyclable.
“Food business and brand owners want quality packaging that not
only matches the quality of their food, but also meets the high
standards for food safety compliance,” says Joe.
With PakPot, Joe has invested heavily in the latest state-of-the-art
equipment, designed to produce the highest quality at much higher
speeds than traditional equipment.
Their complete in-house production process, undertaken by
approximately 30 staff, from design through tooling, to final
production, ensures that individual packaging is designed correctly
to match existing equipment and optimal production processes.
“We made the move early and are forging our own market with
our unique products, so I am looking to continue to support
others in the food industry, and in other sectors such as the
medical and cosmetics industries, anywhere that a high level
of hygiene production is required.”
