REVITALISING MAGAZINE

CREEKWETLANDS

A few years ago we planted 18,000 seedlings to vegetate the

Magazine CreekWetlands. This year, City of PAE staff partnered

with Conservation Volunteers Australia and 90 Year 8 students

from St Paul's College Gilles Plains, to do some general

maintenance on the natural environment and remove tree

guards from the established plants to allow them to

grow further.

As part of our Environmental Community Program, this was

a chance to teach eager students about the purpose of the

wetlands whilst also providing them with an opportunity to

contribute to their local community.

Overall it was a very successful day, the sun was shining, the

students did a great job and it was a very positive experience

for all. Many were already excited about getting back out there

at a later date.

This is one of many activities planned for the coming months

as part of our Environment Community Program. If you'd like

more information about up coming activities, please contact

our Environment Team on 8405 6600 or send us an email at

HELPING BUSINESSES TO

REDUCE THEIR ENERGY COSTS

TheWestern Business Leaders Group led by City of Charles

Sturt and supported by City of Port Adelaide Enfield, City of

West Torrens and City of Holdfast Bay headed-up an Energy

Smart business seminar breakfast at the Adelaide Entertainment

Centre on the 3rd of November.

Key note speaker Jon Dee; the founder of Planet Ark and

managing director of the Australian advocacy organisation 'Do

Something'. He is also the EnergySmart program guru and

writer of Smart Money on Sky News.

Jon gave businesses the latest 10 simple step guide to reduce

energy bills with many recommended actions costing very little

or nothing at all!

Jon was followed up by case study presentations from Stephanie

Bolt, Adelaide Airport Sustainability Leader who is a local

energy efficiency business specialist.

The speakers were fantastic, with each contributing a different

but consistent message that driving change in energy reduction

will result in a win for business and a win for the environment.
