Join the food recycling
Revolution!
Did you know that 40% of the waste from
household garbage bins is food waste which
gets sent to landfill, creating polluting
greenhouse gases?
Did you know that this could be avoided if
all households correctly used their
recycling bins?
Food waste should go in the green lid bin –
or the Council provides each household with
a kitchen caddy and compostable bags to
help you compost your own scraps.
For the first half of this year, the City of Port
Adelaide Enfield and KESAB Environmental
Solutions are on a mission to educate the
community in food waste recycling and
reduce the amount of household waste taken
into landfill.
We want you to join the Revolution!
KESAB will be door-knocking to discuss food-
waste recycling and, by taking the pledge
to ‘Use the Right Bin’, you’ll be given the
opportunity to win a $100 Bunnings Voucher.
Participants will be supplied with a sticker to
place on the side of their green lid bin that
demonstrates their commitment to reducing
waste to landfill.
You can also join the Food Recycling
Revolution online. Visit www.portenf.sa.gov.
au to register. It’s a 10 week competition
commencing on Monday April 18th.
Randomly selected participating households
will have their green lid bin inspected and
the first 2 households each week found
using it to dispose of food scraps will win a
$100 Bunnings Voucher. Up to 20 prizes are
available over the 10 weeks.
If you haven’t been supplied with a kitchen
caddy and compostable bags please contact
the Waste Line free call 1800 777 844.
