Welcome BBQ
The City of Port Adelaide Enfield is proud to have been a
Refugee Welcome Zone for many years. Approximately
30% of our residents come from countries where English is
not a first language and the mixture of language, customs,
culture and religions help create the dynamic and exciting
vibe within our region.
Council, in conjunction with Welcome to Australia, warmly
invites you to join us in celebrating our cultural diversity at a
Welcome BBQ to be held at the Kilburn Community Centre,
59 Gladstone Ave, Kilburn on Saturday 9th April between
11am and 2pm.
The aim of the BBQ is to encourage Port Adelaide Enfield
residents to engage with their new neighbours, new
Australians and the wider community, fostering strong
community life by celebrating diversity and the contributions
refugees, asylum seekers and new migrants bring to the area.
There will be lots of fun activities happening on the day with
a free sausage sizzle. A great day for all the family!
Victim support
Victim Support Service (VSS) is a state-wide, community
based not-for-profit organisation in South Australia that
provides practical and therapeutic support to more than
40,000 victims and witnesses of crime each year in South
Australia. In partnership with South Australia Police, VSS
is piloting the First Response program in Western Adelaide
between March and July 2016.
Our trained First Response volunteers will offer practical
advice, information and emotional support to victims of
property crime.
Victims of property crimes can access this free service by
ringing 1800 VICTIM (1800 842 846) and asking to speak
to a First Response Volunteer. Further information on First
Response and other services offered by Victims Support
Service is available on the VSS website:
