HISTORY MONTH
May is South Australia’s History Month and we are
commemorating the past of our community and our state with
a number of displays and events.
Port AdelaideWorkers’ Memorial display
Located outside the Visitors’ Information Centre in Port
Adelaide, the Port AdelaideWorkers’ Memorial honours those
“who worked unceasingly in an everyday way, sacrificing much
that their fellows might enjoy a little more of the better things
in life.” But who were these workers? Port Adelaide Library
will be hosting a display featuring the names of the 133 people
recorded and invites members of the public to contribute
their connection or story to our book. Port Adelaide Library,
1-31 May. For more information visit
www.portenf.sa.gov.au/libraries or call 8405 6580.
The Babies of theWest Terrace Cemetery
As the Manager of theWest Terrace Cemetery from
1994-1996, David McGowan was challenged to find the
location of the graves of thousands of stillborns and babies
who failed to thrive, buried on the grounds between 1900
and the 1980s. In meeting this challenge, he also initiated the
construction of the Baby Memorial, giving recognition to the
babies buried and peace to their families, who never knew the
location of their children. This May, David will share the story
of how the project came to be, the process of identifying the
graves and the resolution it achieved for those mothers.

THE CITY OF PAE ONLINE
Later this year we will be changing our website address to
www.cityofpae.sa.gov.auThe new address is easier to remember, and more accurately
reflects our name and brand. It will be completely secure and
you can continue to interact with us through the website in just
the same ways as you have done before.
There are will be no changes in the process to making a request
for a City of PAE service online. It also means our web address
is consistent with our social media accounts on Facebook,
Twitter and Instagram. To like or follow us on these accounts,
just search for CityofPAE
We are also using this opportunity to create a new central email
address -
service@cityofpae.sa.gov.auPlease use this for general enquiries, correspondence and
requests. There will be no changes to our phone number or
postal address. We’ll have more information about the changes
in the next edition of Pen2Paper but we look forward to
continuing to hear from you in the future.
NEWVIDEOS MAKE IT EASY
TO STAY IN THE KNOW
The quickest and easiest way to stay up to date with everything
that is happening across the City of PAE is with our new series
of videos which are available online.
Our weekly news update is a short snapshot of all the key things
happening across our region. These videos can be found on our
social media channels and website and are available each Monday
afternoon.
We know it is a big effort to read through hundreds of pages
of agendas and minutes from each Council meeting. To make it
easier for you to stay on top of the latest decisions, the Mayor
will host a monthly summary of key decisions made at the most
recent meeting and reasoning behind them.
You can find all of these videos and much more on our social
media pages @CityOfPAE.
