Built Heritage
The Heritage Branch of the Department of Environment, Water, and Natural
Resources is principally concerned with 'built heritage', including buildings,
structures and places, as well as maritime heritage, such as shipwrecks and
whaling and sealing sites.
The South Australian Heritage register lists the full range of South Australian
Heritage Places within one database and includes World Heritage and
Australian Government listings, State Heritage places, State Heritage areas,
local heritage places and Historic (Conservation) zones (SA SoE 2008).
The South Australian Heritage Council administers the register as a
requirement of the
Heritage Places Act 1993.
