YOUR
Our Journey
The City Plan 2010-2016 is a strategic document
which was developed with input from the community.
It outlines five key goals and associated objectives which
provide a roadmap for the journey that our community is
travelling together.
Between 4 March and 3 May this year, a stakeholder
engagement process was undertaken by Council to
ask residents and visitors for feedback on how Council
is progressing, and to learn what has changed in the
community since the City plan was released in 2010.
During this period Council was able to reach out and
engage with more than 10 000 stakeholders through the
Council’s website, Pen2Paper, community group meetings,
one on one conversations and the ‘Tell Us What You Think’
questionnaires. We have visited all sorts of community
facilities and meeting spots to hear first hand about current
challenges for community groups, and new opportunities
for Council. We have met with youth and seniors groups,
sporting clubs, and church and charity groups. We’ve seen
first hand some of the great work being done at schools
from St Paul’s in Gilles Plains to the Dominican School
in Semaphore. We’ve attended great initiatives like the
Harmony Day event, the Fisherman’s Wharf Market and
the Kite Festival, and met with volunteers from community
groups including the Merchant Navy Association, the Ridley
Grove Community Garden and the Regency Park Rotary
Club. We’ve learnt a lot from some of the City’s wonderful
associations like the Adelaide Bird Club, the Sound of Elvis
Fanclub and the Kilburn Quilters.
But this is just the beginning of OUR Journey; Council with
the assistance of Administration will now go through all of
your submissions and identify the best way to move forward
by drafting the 2013 – 2016 City Plan. Once drafted, we will
present this document to the community and those who have
given feedback already, to confirm the path we will be taking
in the next four years. The plan will be available on Council’s
website or contact Ismael on 8405 6747 if you would like to
receive a copy.
