Meet your Councillors from Northfield Ward

I have been
elected to serve
your interests
on Council
since 2003,
and have seen the City of Port Adelaide
Enfield transform to a united forum of
Councillors working together for the
greater benefit of the community.
I have strongly lobbied the State
Government on many issues raised
by residents including, availability of
broadband/ADSL and increasing road
safety by the introduction of pedestrian
crossings at the intersection of Fosters
Road and Folland Ave. A major concern
to residents of the Northfield Ward is of
personal safety. Major crime issues are
best addressed by SAPOL. Safety issues
such as graffiti, poor street lighting, thick
undergrowth, low hanging branches,
potholes, uneven footpaths, broken
playground equipment etc. are Council’s
responsibility and are easily resolved by
a phone call.
Recently I have successfully lobbied to
allocate money in the budget to update
our library collection by providing
e-books to the community. If you would
like to have a say on how your hard
earned rates money is spent please ring
me and make a suggestion.
I am here to represent your interests on
Council and remember that you can
make a difference. Please ring me and
have a say on 0421 173 339.
It has been a
privilege to
have served
the residents
of our Council
for 22 years (18 of those representing
Northfield Ward) and I look forward
to continuing to do so as your
local representative.
In that time, Council has continued
to improve and refine its services
whilst keeping rates amongst the
lowest around, and I understand our
rate increases are the lowest in metro
Adelaide. This comes from hard work
in keeping costs down and being
committed to doing most efficiently
what Councils do best – infrastructure,
community development and waste
disposal – whilst supporting our local
economy as a priority.
Port Adelaide Enfield’s success is
despite a current background of a
stuttering larger economy, decreasing
Federal and State grants and increased
offload of State Government duties onto
local government. It also shows that a
government can, with the right attitude,
philosophy and mix of dedicated
Elected Members and staff, succeed in
delivering required services in the most
cost effective manner to its citizens.
For me, it is always residents first.

I was first
elected as a
Councillor
for the City
of Enfield in
1989 and as a Councillor for the
newly formed City of Port Adelaide
Enfield in 1996, following the
amalgamation of the two cities.
During my 24 years on Council,
I have assisted many residents in
their dealings with Council. Over
this time there have been increasing
demands and pressures on local
government, for example the rising
cost of waste management and
the pressure on our open space
and infrastructure due to the
development of infill areas
for housing.
The Council has responded to these
challenges and continues to provide
services with low rate increases.
The decision to not raise any new
loans means the Council pays less in
interest and has more funds available
to provide services. Please contact
me on 0419 842 757 if you wish to
discuss Council issues.
