Centre Renovations
Kilburn Community Centre has opened again after
extensive internal renovations. There has been a striking
transformation of spaces at the centre.
Regular hire recommenced in early July and the same
groups and programs are continuing to operate. The centre
remains available for regular hire by community groups
where a benefit to local people can be demonstrated.
Please note the new centre phone number is 8405 6730,
which can be used for general enquiries. Alternatively,
please drop in at your convenience and have a look at
the freshly renovated site.
Payment of Rates
There are six options for paying Council rates, which
can be either in full or in four quarterly instalments in
September, December, March and June each year. These
options are:
• by internet through Council’s website
• by telephone, via your participating bank
• B-PAY
• Australia Post 13 18 16 (by phone or at your
local Australia Post outlet)
• by mail; or
• in person at one of Council’s service centres.
Full payment options are detailed on your rates notice
and accounts will be sent at least 30 days before each
instalment falls due. Ratepayers who are in arrears are
encouraged to get in touch with the Council to arrange
a flexible approach to debt recovery, and often payment
arrangements can be negotiated.
Any rate instalment that is not paid on or before the due
date is regarded as being in arrears and a fine of 2% of the
amount of the instalment is payable. A further penalty at
the prescribed interest rate is added to any unpaid rates for
every month they continue to be unpaid.
To help alert residents about unpaid rates, Council issues
a Notice of Overdue Rates after the instalment is due and
remains unpaid. If you have any concerns regarding your
rates payment, please contact Council’s finance
department on 8405 6600 to discuss.
