Grants opportunities
Heritage Incentive Grants
Port Adelaide Enfield is one of the oldest
council areas in South Australia, with
approximately 100 State heritage listed buildings
and 1,000 buildings that contribute to Historic
Conservation Policy Areas. To help local home
and building owners to protect the heritage
in their hands, Council is again inviting
applications for its Heritage Incentive
Grants Program.
Under the Council’s scheme, the value of
the conservation work must exceed $1,000
with a subsidy available for up to 50% of the
eligible work up to a maximum grant of $2,000
for assistance with external conservation and
restoration works. Electrical and plumbing work
is not eligible unless it is directly related to
improving structural soundness or appearance.
Applicants must complete an application form
and provide photograph(s) of the property
that is the subject of the application, together
with two written quotes for the proposed
work. Heritage Incentive Grants are paid
as a reimbursement following completion
of the work, however these grants are not
retrospective and work should not begin
until the application has been assessed and
applicants have been notified in writing from
the City of Port Adelaide Enfield. Applications
close 5pm, Friday 26 September 2014.
Junior Sports Grants
A review of Council’s Junior Sports Grants
program has resulted in a number of
changes that will further support and benefit
organisations conducting sporting programs
for juniors.
Previously the Junior Sports Grants program
invited applications twice a year, but is now
open for applications all year round with a
four-week lead time for processing. Also,
the maximum amount of funding has been
increased from $500 per year to $750 per year.
Council’s Junior Sports Grants Program aims
to assist and encourage the development of
junior sport by providing funding to not for
profit sporting clubs and groups that provide
organised sporting activities for young people
age up to 18 years of age.

Klemzig Community Watch
Council has a long lasting partnership with the Klemzig
Neighbourhood Watch graffiti removal team whose
volunteers remove graffiti in the eastern region of the
Council area. Under the coordination of Chris Brightwell
the volunteer numbers have reached 10 and cover the
Council area east of Hampstead Road.
Council recognises the contribution that Klemzig
Neighbourhood Watch graffiti removal team has made
to the community in reducing graffiti over the years and
maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.
Since 2004, Council has had a strong focus on graffiti
reduction and has approached graffiti issues with the
community in mind. Community groups such as
Klemzig Neighbourhood Watch have played an integral
role in minimising graffiti vandalism and improving
community awareness.
The Klemzig Neighbourhood Watch graffiti removal
program has assisted Council’s Graffiti Management
Program by removing over 24,000 square metres of graffiti
since June 2004. This is a great example of a community
solution to a community problem.
