On the Same Wave
A number of local metropolitan
Councils and organisations are again
working together this summer to help
teach new arrival communities about
beach and water safety. The aim of
the program is to help educate young
people new to Australia about the
possible risks of beach activities.
The program will be held at Henley
Surf Life Saving Club on Wednesday
17 December and will cover a range of
topics including:
• Understanding the role of
surf lifesavers
• Learning how a rescue is
conducted
• How to swim in the surf or paddle
a board
• Safe swimming – swimming
between the markers, swimming
with a friend and water depths
• Sun safety, such as wearing hats,
lotions and sunglasses.
Council is offering young new arrivals,
migrants and international students
aged 12-18 years who live in the City of
Port Adelaide Enfield the opportunity to
be involved in this fun and informative
day at the beach.
Registration for the program is required
and numbers are limited so please
book as soon as possible. Transport
is available.
For more information or to register
your interest please contact Diana
on 8405 6709.
