A time for Dads to read
and play
Dads and male carers are invited to bring the little
ones along to a Dads Read event at Greenacres Library on
Saturday December 13 for stories, craft and play.
Tony from ‘Cool 4 Kids’ fame will deliver three vibrant
storytime sessions during the course of the morning at
10.15am, 11am and 11.45am.
Bunnings will also supply a fun craft, suited for children
over five years of age and their dads, to complete together.
The project will involve building and decorating a wooden
toolbox to take home. An Imagination Playground will
also be available within the library, giving children the
opportunity to construct and play.
The session runs from 10am-12pm at 2 Fosters Road,
Greenacres and bookings are essential. Please call the
library on 8405 6540 or book online using the Library
Calendar at

Farewell, library trainees
The four smiling young people pictured above have just
completed a one-year traineeship at the Port Adelaide
Enfield Council Libraries. Each trainee has spent a year
working in of the four libraries, attending training once
a week. At the completion of their traineeship, each
trainee has achieved Certificate 3 in Local Government
and Certificate 3 in Business from Maxima.
The Library Service is very proud of its trainee program.
We have a number of trainees that have stayed on with the
libraries, proving that Council is a great place to work. The
fact that trainees choose to stay with the Library Service
and continue their professional development with us
speaks volumes for our team and the supportive workplace
that we strive to achieve.
The trainee program brings young people into our
workplace. This in turn brings new ideas, new perspectives
and an influx of new energy, which is something we look
forward to with each intake of new trainees.
We congratulate them all in achieving a double certificate
and being excellent members of the library team for the
last 12 months, and we wish them well in their future
careers. Special congratulations go to Harry, who was
recently awarded the MEGT Australian Apprentice of the
Year in Business, a wonderful achievement. This is the
second time that a Port Adelaide Enfield Public Library
Service trainee has been recognised with this award.
The new trainees for 2014-15 have already
started and so, although we are sad to see the outgoing
staff leave, we look forward to working with Daniella,
Sarah R, Olivia and Sarah W and helping to nurture their
growth and development.
